The Fire Ant
I can not speak for everyone but I am sure when I say the fire ant is one of the most aggravating animals on this plane, almost everyone would surely agree. As we all know there are many different kinds of ants; fire ants, red ants, black ants, sugar ants, etc. But today, I will be talking about the fire ant. As most people do not know the fire ant did not originate in America, it was imported from South America into Mobile Alabama. Fire ants are a pest that need to be exterminated permanently.
Although it was imported to Alabama around the 1930's on accident, it has spread throughout the southeastern states to more than ten states. The fire ants now cover more than two hundred and sixty million acres of land. These ants are now every where in the southeast and it is one of the most common pests to date. It is a extremely aggressive animal that have many roles in there community. There is a queen in the anthill that the soldier ants take care of basically. They go and scavenge food for her and all she does basically is reproduce. They will defend there territory at all cost not to mention if you leave something at there exposal you will find them coming in your front door, like I did to eat the dog food. I continue to be on the look out and keep bug spray handy for another encounter with those red devils.
The fire ant is here to stay and it will keep spreading down the west coast but luckily for the more northern states the ant does not like the cold. They're here to stay and we have come to somewhat live with them but we are not the least bit shy to buy a can of raid to gun them down. The ant is here to stay and it has become part of our culture to avoid them or take care of them.
